A few of us have SJR844s which are quite similar from what I recall (when I was looking) initially I put a Sol 2500 on it with 30lb braid - liked the Sol as it had 7kg drag which is enough for most of the Spangled Emporer we catch, since then we have all pretty much gone Stella 4000s on them now, simply because the weight is awesome, the drag huge and its smooth as. We run 30 and 50lb on them now.

One mate was using a TwinPower 4000 and found that OK as well, we just wanted the lightest best we could find. Stradic is also fine, something in the 4000 size will siffice.

cheers

Hey Chris
A mate just got one of these rods and runs a Certate 2500 on it with 10lb and throws it at EVERYTHING. Awesome rods and great set-up. Excellent for pinkies, as well as jack and wrestling bream out of tight sports.
I've got mine on order - should arrive this week - and I've got a Stradic 2500 waiting to go on it. Spools loaded with 10lb and 6lb braid.
Another mate has had one for a while and runs a Luvias 2500 on it and he has brought in everything from lontail to pinkies on it.
Nice rods, can't wait to get mine.

00 power popping rod and 4 power spin jig are different animals. The popping rod will have the lighter tip, but power will come in at about the same point. Also SJ will handle heavier weights, whilst the PR will handle lighter weights easily.

Shame they don't do that blank. The 8400 makes a sweet light surf spinning rod, also good heavier flats rod for tropicals.

Edit: Look before you blab!!! Loomis do provide the 8400 blank, in GL3 and IMX
