The strongest knot joining a leader with braid

Guys,
What is the strongest knot known to join leaders (Fluorocarbon) and braid / fused lines? Any opinions on uni to uni vs surgeon?
Thanks

After watching the berkley dvd I tried the surgeons. Nice profile, but was no where near as strong as the double uni I use.

I have tried all but the bimini, I just find it easier to tie the double uni in wind and it generally only breaks when I catch the bottom of the river

Knots

IMO the allbright is the best one i've found. Sure it's harder to tie especialy in wind but you either get it wrong and it's crap, or you get it right and it's the ducks nuts. I use 2lb braid and 4lb leaders and use a 5 twist uni at the lure. All your knots should be tested over the top. ie. pull them up much harder than you expect the fish to I've been tying the allbright for two years now and get it right most times. I can fish all day losing as many as ten or fifteen jigs to snags, all on the same trace. my 2 cents. Basicly PRACTICE. And lots of it

Bimini always, especially on heavier stuff, then either the deckies knot (also known as Cairns Quickie) and is 1st choice, then second choice is the uni to uni....... If I could tie the jigging knot that Al Bevan ties that would become No1, but Im yet to pay enough attention whilst watching.

Those knots are mainly for our Spanglies as for Bream I always tie uni to uni, but again Id like to try Al's knot for that also.

cheers

I know I am a tight arse when it comes to buying tackle, but the bimini looks like it would waste too much line.

Maybe we need a knot tying info night

doulbe uni is a great and easy knot to tie..

but i find the albright to be the best.. even though its difficult to tie it has never failed me.. but it all comes down to what you tie best there is no point in tieing a albright if you do it wrong, make sure the knot you choose to use you perfect it so you dont loose that new pb because of a simple error

My vote goes to the albright knot too. for light stuff I dont see the need for a bimini. For my heavier stuff i always use a Bimini then either a GT knot or an Albright. GT knots are pretty easy to tie once you get them sussed, hardest part is finding decent diagrams to show you how they're terrific knots thouigh, absaloutely tiny yet soooo strong

Here is the link:

This knot has many names depending on which Guru is talking about it, I have heard it called a GT knot, deckies' knot, Cam's quickie (close to Cairns Richo) and a midknot.

It is tricky to tie in thin braid (4-10lb) and light leaders, but makes a very thin profile knot with the leader tag pointing back along the braid. Which allows the knot to travel unhindered through the guides when casting.

I use it on my bream tackle and a 4/5 turn uni to connect the leader to the jighead. If I get an impossible to free snag, I can usually bust the jighead off rather than the leader knot.

You should also look at the "slim beauty" as a leader knot for your bream tackle, quite a few guys I know love it, but have usually seen it used for mono to mono of different sizes.
