Way to narrow it down. There is a massive range of rods in that broad price range that would be great for soft plastics.

How long do you like your rods?
What line strength do you plan to use the rod for (will it be an allrounder)?
How do you treat your rods?
Do you like short rear grips? long rear grips?
Do you like shiny things? (ie, shiny guides, sexy reel seats etc).

There are heaps of rods from Daiwa, Shimano, Berkley, Smith, Nitro, Gloomis etc that might suit you.

Answer the questions above and people might be able to give you a decent answer.

Don't forget Black Diamond Tailored Rods-! We have plenty in the price you mentioned and we design and build all rods here in Australia - all hand made. See link on top of this page (if you are new to BM) as we sponsor the rod forum.
Cheers!

I'd personally go for a millerods breambuster classic in that price range. I think it retails for $475 with alconites. But the best way would be to go into your tackle shop/s and have a feel of the different rods. People will reccomend what they think is good but it all comes down to personal feel. You could say buy a bream buster classic like i suggested but you may not like the feel of it in your hand. All these reccomendations will help you but i'd say to take a shortlist of the rods mentioned and go down to your tackleshop and have a feel of them.
cheers

Rode is anchor line. Rods, on the other hand, are another matter. 100 to 500 bucks pretty much opens the whole market, from cheapies to JDM imports. Have a look at the Millerrods, Black Diamonds, G. Loomis, etc., as they all offer a wide range of models suitable for SP breaming.

Best thing to do is walk into a tackle store and have a look and wiggle. At that budget you can get yourself a decent rod AND reel.
