Hey Breamers
I stop by a locate tackle store well not really locate, and came across a jerking special which caught my eye. I have one myself however the blank on my rod was very thin compared to the one i saw which was pretty thick. Just curious is there 2 type of jerking specials? plus its pretty rare to fine a jerking special but this shop seem to have a fare few. Tri |

Not sure about 2 types of Jerking Specials.
From the very early days of the Heartland-Z line up, I used to visit frequently Daiwa Japan's website, and never came across another Jerking Sp. Actually, I will correct myself. There is a cheaper version of the Jerking Special without the titanium SiC guides, spec-ed as HL-Z 601LRS. The balancing point on the ti model is about 1cm from the winding check away from the reel seat. My model is HL-Z 601LRS-ti 6' long 1 piece light action regular taper Titanium frame SiC guides 1/8 - 3/8oz lure 3 - 6lb line 01401622 "some number" Made in Japan Says Jerking Special besides the Heartland-Z logo on the top of the blank. Purple blank. Magnum Taper on the blank section under the winding check. Cork grips, gunmetal winding check and butt ring (haha). Purple butt badge, wood-coloured reel seat with Neo Traditional Concept, and Designed by Daiwa printed, with non-slip grip. Blank diamater at the butt is about 10.5cm

Are you sure it was a Jerking Special?
There are a few models that have the type of reel seat. For example, there are a few models under Finesse Special ti. 601MLXB-Sti 591LXS-Sti 601LFS-Sti 601MLXS-Sti 601MMLXS-Sti The butt rings are slightly different to that on a Jerking Special, amongst other things.

Haha, nice.
You posted just as I was writing. Specs of the Finesse Special ti 135g 1.2 to 5.8mm top and butt blank diameter max 3/8oz lure 4-10lb line 98% carbon content 37800 yen Specs of the Jerking Sp ti 115g 1.6mm top blank diamter 1/8 to 3/8oz lure 3-6lb line 89% carbon content 37800 yen Yours has an extra fast action (X), and the Jerking Sp has a regular (R) taper. Yours is a medium light action rod (ML) and the JSp has a light action (L). Yours has a solid power slim blank design, JSp Magnum taper. Yours is a model designed with jighead-ing in mind, JSp was for jerking minnows - the guy behind HMKL in Japan 泉和摩氏 had a lot to say, I would imagine, on the JSp. Both models have titanium frame SiC guides (ti). But in the end, I don't know the difference in performance between the two rods besides what is on paper ; ).

And now, you shall be swamped with PM's on the location of the tackle shop.
Not from me though.

I have the jerking special without the ti sic guides. Probably on older model. They could either be regular sics or alconites i suppose

Most likely Stainless steel frame SiC's.
It's hard to find Alconite on JDM rods.
