shut down bite?

I am just wondering what people do when the bite is shut down? Like recently in the east with the amount of fresh in most systems.

In my local the fish move to the deeper areas, but i just cant get the hang of deep jigging.Something to work on for me.

Also, what methods do you use in the deep?
