Touch up Paint

Hey
I decided this afternoon to pull a sticker of the side of my boat.Which i didnt think to hard about ,before i went and peeled it off.
It took half the paint from under the sticker with it.
I was wondering if anyone would know how to repaint back over tha bare metal.
ie do i need to sand it back before painting over it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I used SLS (Sticks Like Shlt) etch primer and then a finish coat (gloss) to patch up my boat but you want to speak to BIG PETE. He's the painting guru
