8.168 seconds at 155.78 mph - very impressive

We may well be doing high speeds under leccy power in the future. Perhaps eliminating the need for a conventional outboard? A prop on the front and the rear as required.

could be very interesting if / when the development comes through to the "normal" market. like most mechanical bits and pieces the racing scene will push development and it will trickle through to the public in time.

the thing that got me was the battery bank only weighed 70 odd kg's ... i reckon the 2 deep cycle's in my boat would weigh more that that now....

things that make you go hmmmm

There is only one problem, you need more than 10 seconds of discharge from your batteries to run an electric for the day.
Interesting though.

Cheers, Dror

In my other life I fly radio control models....

I specifically fly the F5b type of models...Gliders with a difference.

They are all molded composite (carbon/kevlar/epoxy) construction and are hand moulded in Gemany.

I fly a model called a "Mini Graphite". It's a 2 metre span model

They are built for multiple tasks, those being: speed, duration, distance.

I used a Hacker B50 brushless motor which has a planetary 6.7:1 reduction gearbox attached to it.

My motor Spins an 18 inch diameter, 24 inch pitch prop.....

My setup runs on 27 cells (36 volts) and produces 2500 watts for competition.

0 - 1000 feet with only a 4 sec motor run....

Here's a link to one of my early test flights @ whiteman park using 10 cells (for a total of 1000 watts) and a 10 x 16 prop. (I.e very mild!!)

Mini Graphite Video

There are F5D models that are tiny (80 cm span) and run only 7 cells and are exceeding 300 MPH........ the motors are capable of spinning @ over 150,000 rpm.
