Lightbulb Members marching tomorrow

Any members who may be marching tomorrow (or may have served and aren't marching), please feel free to post a pic in this thread showing you with your medals etc. at the march.

I think it would be good to for all regulars to be aware of the guys who have fought for the country. Perhaps under your pic, give us a little information of where and when you served.

Even if you don't have a pic, put a post anyway so we can acknowledge your fantastic contribution.

Cheers

Warren.

Sth. Vietnam

Hi Warren, I don't have any pics of me and the medals but I will be marching tomorrow for certain, I spent 371 days in Sth. Vietnam, 67---68. this time of the year is a very hard time for me, I normally go back to Busselton to march but at this moment I have changed my mind and am staying in Perth, not a good time for me, I am looking forward to spending Saturday on the Murray river chasing bream....

Hey Nev,
I plan to get togethor with Steve (Pacestick) and have a few maybe we could all get togethor for a BBQ or something.

I'll be marching with the Royal Australian Regiment Association, where are you forming up because I'll come and say G'day.
Geoff

Thank for putting up this post Warren.

I was in the Navy for just over 5 years serving here, NZ and also "up top" (indo, malaysia, thailand, singapore, philippines) I was never involved in any conflict (we did a few laps around Timor before Geoff and the boys went up and sorted things out) and would like to say a big thankyou to Nifty and Geoff P for their service. I hope you guys had a great march.

Craig

As a dead set certified pussy I'd like to pay full props to everyone who has served for this great country. No DohDohDohDoh I really mean that.

Going off to war would scare the be-geebers out of me and can't be an easy thing for anyone to do. Many have died or been injured (Geoff P) and will never be the same again serving this country, so I can fish for bream in peace.

I payed my respects on Friday.

Thanks to all who have served, are serving and will serve, to maintain the country I love............Mad respect...............

Thanks to Warren and Ira

Gidday all,
I have been in the army for 18 1/2 yrs now and am due to retire soon. The services provide a life style where anyone can excell with a little hard work.
I have served in Somalia with 1 RAR in 1993 and also East Timor with 6 RAR in 2000. These operations rate as the best time of my career, and while it is an eye opener to see other countries in absolute anarchy and turmoil, it only hilights how GREAT Australia really is.
I am extremely proud to have served my country and it's people as I believe this is the best country in the world. I do however get disappointed when I hear people put this place down or more recently burn it's flag. I really wish I could take these type of people and put them into the horrific and dangerous countries I have served in. This would certainly be a wake up call like no other but it would show them why this country of ours is so beautiful a place to be with it's freedom, diversity, life style, safety, choice ect to mention just a few.
Well I hope you all enjoyed your ANZAC week end and had enough spare time for some serious breamin'. I scored well with 5 yesterday all size and one well over a kg. Hope Nifty and Bear did alright down on the Murray. Cheers guys.

Wink I think this says it all

I "was" which others cared not to be
I went where others feared to go and did what others failed to do
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing, and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror
Felt the chill of fear
Warmed to the touch of love
I have cried, hoped and pained
But foremost lived in times that others would say best forgotten,
At the very least
In later days
I will be able to say with the greatest of pride
That I was indeed

" A SOLDIER "

That poem was read to me by Corparal Darren Vallely, in Balibo East Timor in Oct 99, i feel very strongly about it and am very proud whenever I read it. I love this country, I too am very proud to have served in it's armed forces and to have put my life on the line for those who were not strong enough or able to fight for thier freedom.
Like Ira says," if they would all just fish for Bream there wouldn't be so much anger in the world"
Tear the arse out of it on the day boys and girls, but take a minute or two and remember why we remember them
Lest we forget
Geoff

May I add, thank's for all your support

What is best in life O slave?
To Crush your enemy, To drive him before you And to hear the lamentation of his "WOMAN"
"Conan The Barbarian"

Hi Steve, interested to see you spent some time in Somalia back in 93. My mate at work spent time in Somalia back then too, although I dont know what regimant. He was from the base in Townsville, I know thats not much to go on as you probably were to, but chances are you know Greg Evans, he now resides down in Busselton.
I managed to attend a service in Caple on Friday and I try to when ever and where ever I am. My kids are also learning the importance of this.
Lest we forget.

Dale

I moved here from Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) 21 years ago following a civil war. This great country has been very good to us and Anzac Day is indeed a day for all of us to reflect on what sacrifices were made for us. I also use the day to remember the fallen from our war (Aussies included).

True merriment comes from those
Who have looked into their own open graves
And walked away
To find life again
Whereon the world is richer
In their eyes
Each day becomes a gift
To be explored
Not a pale grey place
To be endured

On that note I think I'll go fishing again this weekend!!
