Keel Shield

Just wanted some feedback on anyone who may have fitted a Keel Shield or similar to their boats. Are they worth the money and how do they handle the speeds?

Hamby's Keel Protector

Bear,

I have had a Hamby's Products Keel Protector on all 3 of my Ranger's. They are adhesed to the hull using a special 3M adhesive. I have never seen one peel away or come loose. I have had the one on my new Ranger up to 60mph and it has not waivered. I would not own a boat without one. http://www.hambys.com/

Hi Bear
I have had them on my last 3 boats and never a problem.
I had/have the Keel sheild brand.
Great for when you dont have a jetty to tie up on and have to rest the boat on the ramp.
It has saved 2 of my boats from big repairs from when I have been driving the boat up the trailer and a ferry wake has hit the boat sending it onto the guard of the wheel. It took a chunk out of the keel sheild which is better than outa the bottom of the boat!
I won one once on another forum but never received it, if you ring them and get it, you can have it!

Greg

Thanks Brian\Greg. Much appreciated. I've only seen the Keel Shield here Brian, but I'll check that one out for sure.

I used to fit quite a few of the Keel Shields on jet skis when I was working for Maurits. Never had one peel off or have any other problems and a lot of these craft where capable of 60mph plus. They don't seem to adversely effect handling either as long as they are installed properly. Good product and can definitely save money on gel coat repairs.

Cheers, Dror

That's what I was hoping Dror. Does Mauri still do them at Avante? If I have someone local I would prefer to use them

I am not sure if he fits them to any of the boats he is selling but he should still be able to get hold of them. Will find out for you. Might look at putting one on the bay boat as well.

Cheers, Dror
