Questions about Fireline and Leaders

Just wandering what is the best knot to use when joining fireline to a MONO Leader and also a fireline straight to a SWIVEL

I am looking for the best knot to prevent slippage.

Also - What is the best method of connecting a hardbody lure for Bream / Flattie. Would you use a snap swivel or tie the leader direct to the hardbody lure.

any info appreciated.

cheers

Hi Adam

Swivel is a dirty word as the swivel will kill most of the action of the lure.

There are some good geoff wilson books on tying fireline to mono. I use a simple double uni knot when attaching my mono to my fireline i use 10 turns, no major problems so far.

As for the line to the lure i would be using a left loop or harros loop. its in geoff book. Or you can use a uni knot the idea of a loop knot allows movement on a lure and then tightens under pressure.

Lefts loop knot

Check out this link too, about double uni knots.

Also do a search on this site for knots. There is a lot of posts that you might find useful

Cheers

I go with a lefties loop for attaching the lure to the leader, very easy to tie, and mighty strong. (havn`t had one fail yet)

cheers

thanks for all the info. A lefty seems the way to go.

However, can you use the lefy knot on fireline direct to the lure.

I know you shouldn't (being so visible) but just wanted to know if it will still slip and/or break being a fireline

I use 8-10 turns in my uni knots
I dont think it matters about going thru the guides as the uni knot follows the main line along, it doesnt bulge out.
I use a perfection loop or lefties loop to tie my lures on. Havent had either go....yet
