berkley pro-tactic

I was wondering if anyone has fished with a berkley protactic rod.

How did the rod perform and how much do they cost.

Felt one on the weekend. I wasnt impressed with the grip/reel seat setup but overall it felt pretty sensitive and a nice light rod. I wouldnt take it to a river with lots of structure and expect to extract big fish but it is nice and sensitive suited to more plastic fishing rather than hard bodies.

Hey,
I bought one last week and am extremely impressed with them. I upgraded from a Shimano Raider to the 2-5kg PT 700 and so far have landed 25 fish to 40cm on them. I've managed to extract a couple of brutes from under bridge pylons, and the power of this rod is awesome. Plus with all the sweet fuji fittings, you can't really go wrong. I've been using a lot of shallow running stickbaits, and have had no rod fatigue or trouble twitching them with the grips....... If I may make a suggestion to Brad, try some rodwrap, it helps comfort the hand when the grip is a bit bulky.

Bridge Pylons + 40cm

Cheers,

Well at that price i can buy what i all ready have which are Nitro 6.6'' and 7''.

Do you need a slightly stiffer rod for hard bodies or can the Nitros' handle the hard bodies.

I like a little bit of a stiffer rod for HB's, but it's not overly necessary in my opinion. I haven't used a Nitro, but I'm sure they'd be fine, they do have a pretty good rep. Might be worth branching out and trying a different rod.... I love them all!!!!

Nothing wrong with the old Powerbream 1-3kg for hardbodies. Everything from vibes to sx40s and Mira Shads/Static Shads

Hey mate, I did, it was a lot 'tippier' than the 7' 2-5kg.
It was quite a bit softer and would be ideal for throwing unweighted plastics around...... should be perfect for a 1500 size reel.....

I went for the 7' primarily as an Estuary Perch stick, I need the extra grunt and balls..... plus I had a 2500 Stradic that needed a home
