Think outside the square

Interesting to see so many lures up for offer these days.

I get the impression that many Bream fishermen seem to be very comfortable with 1-2 types, makers without paying attention to what else is on offer and are not willing to experiment with anything else, even though other lures may be more productive than the old favourites.

If I see another colour chart, I'll go mad I'm sure

Glad someone agrees with me

Just wondering if Pros on the circuit are using the same old favourites or do they try track down lures that may give them that advantage in comps? Hmmm I wonder.

Ever gone out fishing with something new and killed the pig? I wonder why that could possibly be? is it because the fish have never seen that lure, action or colour before? Hmmm I wonder

I actually find the opposite.

I mean, my only real experience with breamers is online and a very small circle of friends and we all basically use the same lures...

But it appears very fad like (to a sort of outsider), everybody uses the same few things, the latest and greatest if you will. Baby vibes, SX40's, Gulp, no doubting their effectiveness but I don't think any old favorites ever actually stopped catching fish, just stopped getting tied on. I think alot of people seem to like keeping up with the Joneses.

I know I do it myself, I have to buy and try all the latest and greatest gear to see for myself. But I rarely think anything is that much better than last years favorites.

I actually find it refreshing when someone posts a report of a ripper day on a Scorp or Laser Pro. But then I am sure these were once seen as the lastest and greatest fad.

Looks like I'm stuck on the fence, without the latest and greatest, there would be no old faithfuls to reach for when the next new thing kicks in and doesn't work for you.

Agree with you there Richo,

Still plenty of oldies but goodies around, who knows they might come back in flavour again.

Lures catch more fishermen than fish.

Every one to their own, i try anything that i think might be a chance to get a bream with, it is fun just getting on line, reading mags and visiting retail outlets, searching for that perfect bream lure that no one has yet found.
