I am going to spend some time fishing Waroona dam in a week 15th. I was wondering if i need a fishing lic. Got a couple of mates over from Sydney and we think a few days on the dam would be fun.

The rule in NSW is that if your over 18 years old, you need a fishing license to fish anywhere. But in reality, no one EVER checks up on you, so you should be fine.

Yes you do require a fishing license for fishing in fresh water, they can be obtained at most post offices, and it aint worth not having one incase you do get checked. I don't think there all that expensive and you'll be doing the right thing.

i would recomend you get a licence, you get caught by fisheries they can now only fine you but they can conviscate all your fishing gear and so on

1. It is irresponsible of you to suggest someone break the law and fish without a F/W licence. We have a licence system for a reason.

Whatever, get the license, don't get the license, I'm just giving my opinion so no need to have a hissy-fit, Stu_000. I have one and I have never been checked up on so whatever.

P.S. He said he was going with mates from Sydney, and since I have no idea where Waroona dam is, I assumed it was in NSW.

check the dam levels before you go mate. Last time I was down there (albiet a couple of yrs ago) ppl were 4wding on the dam floor. Don't expect that just coz it's a dam there will be water in it. I was there once as a 12yr old and it was an amazing place "massive dam" with miles of water. I was totally not prepared for what I saw the last time I was there.

Fisherman #1 if you didn't have a drivers licence would you still drive coz you've never beenpulled over? stupid advice to be giving out mate, like stu said "irresponsible"
Don't tell me you leave bits fishing line at your feet after a fish, coz a fish or a bird would hardly ever get caught up in it!
