reels

G'day all. I'm looking at some reels under $50. eg. Shakespeare Powerplay, Okuma silstar hypa. Does anyone have any other sugestions? Must have instant anti reverse etc. Basicly best value for money.

Cheers Echo1

Actually, Siennas are a good reel too. But my vote still goes to the Accord, even though Shimano is my fave brand.

yeah get a slade mate, you will be happy with either the accord or a slade. i think the slades are the best reels for the price and a 1000 would be a perfect cheap breaming reel

G'day,

I'd recommend the Penn Accord for a number of reasons. I only don't use mine now because I've got the Okuma. My little brother uses the Accord.

It's a great little reel. Smoothe, incredibly durable, holds a fair bit of line for its size, I didn't have one problem with it in the one year I owned one.

Since I've been using the Okuma I find the Accord a tad heavy, but the Okuma is small after all.

In the one year I had it, its performance didn't drop even the slightest. Its not got one rust mark on it nor should it seeing I took good care of it and I didn't have it for too long.

I did find one minor glitch in it though, sometimes when I went to cast the bail would close, this only happend a few times and there was no serious out come.

Hope this helps, it's a great reel. Give it some looking into, I think you'll find its your best option for your price range.

Nugget.

i got the 2500 size and its good because it can be used for more than bream fishing as it can take more line so it's sort of a dual purpose reel.

That can be said about alot of reels, including the Penn Accord 2000.

Hope this helps, Nugget.

i think what matt means is that the 2500 slades arent a big reel, they are actually pretty small for a 2500 but have a decent line capacity. i own one and would use it for breaming if for some reason my other 1500 and 2000 reels were broken or lost. top little reel

That's cool, I'd use a 2500 reel for Bream fishing if it felt nice though. Not much difference between a 2000 and 2500.

I'd only go a 1000 size if i was only targeting bream or fresh water fish. the 2500 size Shimanos are about the same size as the 1000 Penn Affinity i had.
