Line on baitcast reel?

Hi all,

For all my baitcast reels I loaded fireline on it but I found out that it is not easy to cast and it does not lay very evenly on the reel, What brand of line do you guys use for your overhead reel?

Any of the newer generation braids. True woven braids, not fused stuff.

FINS Prt, Bionic Braid, etc. FINS is good stuff.

Shortlites right about using a True Braid instead of fused line. Braid is rounded so it lays allot neater compaired to fuised lines which are flat and cut into the spool. Fuised lines are great fun spinning gear though...

cheers, Nathan

The fused line such as the fireline is more appropriate for threadline/spinning outfits as it is stiffer and therefore the speed at which the line comes of the reel going into guides as the acceleration takes it, will keep it at a constant deceleration path, which in general means, less guide tangles. In general, braid is not a first choice option due to its more subtle nature and thereby comes off the reel faster and it's acceleration is faster and doesn't decelerate through the guides as constant and thus it's more prone to guide tangles.

Such is this, with the increased acceleration on baitcasters and the fact that the line comes off in a relative straight lined arc, braided lines serve a better purpose on these reels than does fused lines.

It's simple physics, based on basically on parobolic load up acceleration curves and frictional gravitational patterns which include the centrifugal forces of the line running through the guides...... if any of that makes sense.
