The Daiwa reels are generally larger than the Shimanos. 1000 size Shimanos are in their own class, 1500 Shimanos are still slightly smaller than the 1500 Daiwas.

2000/2500 Shimanos are roughly equal to 1500 Daiwas, then above that it gets closer to Daiwa = Shimano + one size, e.g (Daiwa 3000 = Shimano 4000).

Just my 2c worth though, one of the few things to consider in reels.

1500 Shimano? I didin't know they came in that size.

My knowledge is that Shimanos have 1000, 2500, etc and Daiwa have 1500, 2000, 2500, etc....

How consistent are the sizes within brand?

Are the sizes consistent within each particular brand?

For example, is Shimano 1500, 2000, 2500 etc ALWAYS a specific spool diameter or are they different from models to models? how about Daiwa?

If they differ from model to model, then that would be a bit confusing as one has to personally handle a reel to figure out what's what....

Thanks,
UL
