sufix performance braid
has anyone seen any of the sufix performance braid around. Im chasing some 6lb.
Its not the same as tha sufix matrix pro either looks like this http://www.sufix.com/FishingLine/USA...manceBraid.htm been doing alot of reading trying to find the best braid. And there a very few bad coments on this line. Also alot of the USA guys are now using it for bass fishing and bass is alot bigger industry than bream with alot more people using and testing gear |

Try shooting a PM to Ranger 175C. A while back he tried some and apparently didn't like it. I have however, heard a lot of good stuff about it as well though. Sufix got Larry Dahlberg on their team promoting this line, and he's a big light tackle man.
Personally dunno if I can pull the trigger on something I haven't handled and checked out, or gotten feedback from people doing the same sort of fishing. |

thanks for that. Im just interested in trying something different. For me the most important thing in any braided line is knot strength and how well it ties knots. And this is a very round braid as is sopused to be good with knots. I dont mind sacrifising some casting distance if i know that my knots will hold
i was going to buy some braid systems but recently i have been hearing a few bad reports coming from a few people. |

Biggest thing with the Linesystems stuff is that it costs almost as much as a bulk spool of other braids. Kinda pricey for sure.
Myself, I have used FINS 4 and 10 lb for a while without any dramas. Wish they made a 6 lb, I'd be on it quicker than a fly on crap. |

yeah have heard alot of good comments about fins but im not super confident about using 4lb. how do you find it handles when locking up the brakes on larger fish. I always use a bimini so hopefully that would give it a bit more strength

Using 4lb would be perfectly fine in areas where there isnt too much cover or if you want to present a bit more of a finnesse offering. Just remember when tying to a leader you may want to double the braid over to make the connection a little stronger.
4lb braid, you will find, will break around the 8lb mark anyway. Matrix pro is a really good braid as its a true braid not a fused one. Its certainly down the cheaper end of the true braid scale but i havent had any problems with it. The best bit about it is the 8lb is the smallest diameter but it breaks around 12lb and the diameter is more like 2lb, it just looks bigger because its round in profile not flat. Fins is also a good product if your on the lookout for a true braid. The sufix braid your looking at ive got a feeling has been brought out to replace the sufix hydrofine which is a fused braid. If thats the case it will be similar to fireline. Yatesy |

No Brad, the Sufix Performance is a true braid.
As for fishing with 4 lb FINS, I have done some of the craziest stuff (read: bulls#!tting in Slang Terms post), and more. In open water the capacity it gives and the break strength (8lb) means you can let a fish run and work it hard when it stops. You'll be in with a chance of slowing a running fish before it reaches structure. I DO NOT recommend taking on bruisers in heavy cover with it. Being so thin its abrasion resistance is not that great, and a touch on oysters/barnacles, or even rocks or sunken concrete will kill your chances stone dead. You will need to double with a Bimini, and make sure your knots are well tied. It's very unforgiving on crappy rigging. |

Ahh another true braid! I will chat to the distributors to see when we can see it then! New toys YAY!
If its better than matrix pro i can see myself switching again. This one is made in 6lb too- matrix im running 8 and 10 still. |

Just checked up on diameters....
the 6lb is 0.12" but the 8lb matrix pro is 0.10".... now theres a point to note. BUT 10lb matrix pro is supposed to be 4lb fireline diameter- only its round. Compared to standard fireline though... Well fireline claims to have 2lb test diameter on its 6lb product which equates to 0.007" BUT that is because its a flat braid. Im looking at either 2lb fireline crystal or 2lb platypus superbraid on a new flats hb outfit and those diameters are starting to get tiny! Basically what i can gather is that the 6lb stuff is going to be a true braid ie round and will be slightly larger in diameter than the 8lb matrix. Its fine for me though as 8lb matrix is really thin. It should be a good allround line. Food for thought ive had enough babbling on....

you are correct in saying pro matrix is a true braid.. but apparantly sufix performance is alot better, ive seen the new mono that sufix has brought out called sufix siege and i tell you sufix has alot to offer with the new technology.. ive also been very lucky and seen a spool of performance, very impressed with it & from what ive seen its going to be my next braid

yes its a round braid. I can PM anyone a report one of the bass fishos did on it on the USA. He tested it for ages and also mesured it under the miroscope. Although it seems thicker than than the matrix pro its actually not because its TRULLY round. Its rounder than any light braid on the market. where as the matrix pro is slighty flat

I think I might just bite the bullet and get some of the 6 lb to form my own opinion.
