Gday Arjy,
Mate i have 2 of the DSR 820's and they are an awesome bream rod. I had the butt shortened on mine. I have them paired with a couple of Daiwa Airities. The best thing to do would be to take the rod into a shop and see how it feels with a few different reels on it and pick the one you like the most.

Cheers
Chris

You've been given one of the best bream rods around... I can tell there's not too many of us who'd refuse a gift like that!!

On reels, what's your budget?

Airity is a great match for most light spin rods, imo the best for value on the market atm.

I missed out on the socks but also got hankies instead lol.I could spend up to around the 3 or $400 i guess. How are the airity,s in the salt?im thinking a 2000 model. The sol 2000 can be had for $289,and the airity for $449.just not sure which would balance better on the loomis.

Drewy, I know you love your certates, how does the Airity compare to the Certate?

l think they are as good if not better. These reals were a lot more expensive than they are just 12 months ago, there gearing, weight, and alloy is 2nd only to the Exist imo. Certates are a great real as well thou, and l wouldn't swap any of mine for any real, they are tough and smooth.

A great rod. You're lucky. don't think of giving that away.

Well, if your budget is for a TD sol which is around $300, then you're looking at a very good reel.

Don't worry about the weight of the reel. It's not its weight, its the balance it gives the rod. I put one on a SR-842/2 the other day and it's great. So, it'll match your rod up very nicely.

Just remember, after each trip, give the rod a rinse in tepid fresh water and let it dry in a cool dry place - not in the sun and the reel, a light rinse in tepid fresh water and undo the spool and put a couple of drops of the thin oil down the shaft and give a few winds. Put it back together and also let it dry. Don't forget to undo the drag tension...... ALWAYS!

Have fun fishing.
