Talking Fishing exmouth

Hi Guys,

I'm finally heading up to exmouth in september for 7 days. I know this topic has been done plenty of times but it's exmouth and i can't wait to get there. Taking two bream outfits, 1 4-6kg outfit, 1 10-15kg outfit and a 12ft setup. I'm sure these setups will do fine. I am going to be landbased so any tips is going to be greatly appreciated. Im also going with the wife so she needs to have some fun fishing to. Any help will be greatly appreciated, spots to fish and rigs. I mainly want to use lures but there will be bait used every know and then.

Cheers
Tim

Thumbs up Mangrove Jack

Apparently the marina ain't too bad. My lad was up there a couple years back, on a school fishing camp, and took my 8wt fly rod along with him. He fished a clouser style white fly in the marina - and kept throwing it in under boats docks any kind of structure, etc.

He said he saw a fish (using polaroids) follow one of the other kids soft plastics, but turn away and go back under a catamaran.

It was living nicely under the shade thrown by the matting between the two hulls up front.

So he flicked the white clouser in - let it settle to the bottom - then twitched it out in a series of 1 ft - 18 inch strips / jerks along the bottom, and the jack came right out into the open and then nailed the fly!

He was able to turn it and keep it away from all the structure and landed it - much to the amazement of everyone watching!

They all voted to take it back to camp for Dinner - but he released it!

Everyone was blown away he released such a good fish!

Give the marina a thorough workover if the weathers crap for fishing elsewhere - there are a few good fish in there according to all reports.

Ohh yeah take extra braide up with you in case (when) you get spooled!

Cheers!

Gday Tim

try fishing trissell access just before Tandabiddi boat ramp its a hot spot for Queenies. You can catch your live bait there if you have a throw net or try poppers and plastics, tsunami shads in particular, easy access and you can take the misses.
Just one thing this place can get a little crowded when the queenies are in full swing so get there early to get a spot.
get there at least 3-4hours before high tide.
Dont forget to take a large landing net or gaf as this place has a small ledge.

good luck
