Platypus Lo-stretch

I was given a sample spool of platypus lo-stretch yesterday (but its 8kg) looks good non the less, has anyone tried it yet ?
I was thinking It might be a good alternative to braid when in the racks.

I have some of the Platypus Lo-Stretch on my 6kg wharf/jettie outfit and I have had no problems. I would still recommend Fireline for Breaming and anything lighter than 4kg but for 8kg it should work very well.

Fireline

I think that there is much better stuff out than Fireline. Fireline will be a thing of the past in a few months I rekon, it'll drop drastically in price because people will be buying things that are much, much better than Fireline.

Some people don't even like Crystal Fireline. Yet again, some people love it. I've started a thread on this subject and I had many complaints about the stuff I also had some recommendations about the stuff.

If you're going to buy some Fireline for bream fishing I'd recommend the 2lb Crystal Fireline.

Hope this helps, Nugget.

I'm sure your right. After a couple of decades at the top, Fireline will just fade out in a couple of months

Newby and Ducks

Your probably right but for now Fireline is by far the best line I have ever used for Breaming, and who knows whats in the future? Maybe fireline will stay on top or upgrades may be developed to keep fireline on top, nobody but the manufacturers know whats in store for the fishos of the world.

Fireline

G'day,

With all the braids that people have been talking about latley on the forums, I think that Fireline will die out very soon.

Saying that it maybe in a few months was a miscalculated estimant. But it will die out, It might just be in a few months. Maybe longer.

It definently wins when it comes to cost. I'd definently pay a few extra bucks for something alot better though.

That's "If" I don't use braids anymore. I've converted back to Monofilament lines and flurocarbons.

Hope this helps, Nugget.

fireline has always been good to me, only now am i starting to contemplate changing to a true braid and thats only as a trial. i have used some other braids but only in short sessions when borrowing others gear and i really didnt see that much of a difference between cheap fireline and its more expensive counterparts. i havent used any of the top of the line stuff like bass hard or team daiwa yet so they may change my mind

I'm with you Luke.

Fireline has done everything I want it to do. I think I can speak on dads behalf too. We have never had a problem with it. It casts great, we rarely get a wind knot, and it ties knots beautifully!

I see no point in getting line which might improve your casts by 2%, but which will cost a hell of a lot more. Stick with the tried and tested I say.

There's always something "better" out there, but for the price of fireline, good luck finding something better.

And with the current demand, fireline prices are only going up. Thanks Pure Fishing

Why? So he gets busted off every time? 2lb is definately NOT an all round breaking strain, IMO it is for flats fishing only.

RE: the original topic, anything with good abrasion resistance is great for racks fishing. A lot of the flurocarbons these days are a lot more abrasion resistant than your normal mono lines.

Cheers
