G'day to all.
I have a few questions today about choosing the best Soft Plastics rod. Question One: What should I stay away from? Question two: Whats the difference between Graphite and Fibre Glass? Question three: What do you recommend on buying, and if you have the price information that would help alot. Question four: What size is the best, I was thinking 6'6. Cheers, Newby.

hi im fairly new 2 fishing also but i no that the difference between graphite and fibreglass is that fibreglass is heavy but very durable so if u are goin 2 be bashing around a fibreglass rod it udnt do much damage.
But graphite is much lighter but does not take a beating very well. i think thatss right but just incase ask other people. Jay

umm...
it depends on preference newby, some people lick chucking plastics with a stiff rod like the rack raider but other people prefer sensative rods for plastics. i have a berkley dropshot in the 2-4kg line class and that is good for both hb and sp but i have heard good things about the1-3kg class for sp, dropshot: http://www.campbellsprotackle.com./s...ct.asp?ID=3714 theres also the strudwick sic sick range aswell the procaster range aswell http://www.campbellsprotackle.com./s...ct.asp?ID=3226 http://www.campbellsprotackle.com./s...ct.asp?ID=3225 the new pen pinpiont tournament series rods are supposed to be good as well can't remember what they retail for. theres also the silstar hi graph and lexus which are good they should only set you back $70-$80. all of these rods well most of them are around the $100 range and being a begginer you wouldn't want to buy a a really good first rod cos you are only beggining (hope this isn't offending you in anyway) atleast if you do use a cheaper rod and you bash it around a bit and an acident does occur( touch wood) it's not a great loss because it isn't really expensive, if ya understand wat i mean. hope this helps lee ps: there are heaps of rods out there so just look around and see what suits you best these rods are just to give you an idea of what you are looking for. |
