is this rod anygood (first time soft plastic user)

hi im new at fishing for Bream and caught my first legal size one on my second trip. i am thing of trying SP. my friend tried on the last trip and got nothing. he only tryed for 30mins though in two days. we did get a few bites bait fishing berkley gulp sandworm 6". now i am hoping at trying southplastics, but i only have 1 rod a 6'6 nibble tip rod works wonders. for the soft plastics i want to get a 6'6 carbon fibre spinning rod. i have hardly no money but am able to buy a rod i found on ebay. i will also use this rod for hardbodies sometimes. these have been going for $30 including postage to my door. information on link.

At $30 it might be worth a try but as a general rule you get what you pay for. So I would be saving my money for one I could look at and feel before I handed my money over.

Snapping won't be the issue here. It will probably be the feel, the balance, weight maybe, and also sensitivity to light touches. The guides are also important because if it chips or cracks, it will fray your line and if you're using braid, the line costs as much as the rod.

I'm with Tony. You haven't had the opportunity to hold the rod so I would be saving the pennys and pick one from a retailer that suits you and your reel.

i will probably get this as long as you guys think the blank is of considerable strength. as long as i can get a year or two out of this rod i will be happy. if the guides are crap quality i will carefully remove the binding and buy a set of fuji guides through my school and bind them on.

there is also this rod which is better?

weight will not be an issue as the rod i use currently is a jarvis walker black queen solid fibre glass. this thing weighs a ton. i also use a custom made nibble tip rod. exscellent for bream.

it say it has 24T carbon fibre construction is this good?
it says it weighs 170 grams, is this heavy?

please reply asap thanks

Thumbs up

gday gippsland bream

i agree with the others mate save your money and get something you can feel and for $30 i wouldnt expect it to cast or work a plastic to well
i started off with a berkley drop shot and ive caught plenty of big tassie trout and bream on it and for $95 mate there geat value or for that sort of $ theres plenty of other options that will last a lot longer and fish better

i agree with the others, id avoid rods like that because as far as you know it could be worse than your black queen..... problem with ebay. check out all your local tackle stores theres plenty of cheap rods that would do the job nicely. berkley dropshot, outermark carbotec IM8 , silstar hi-graphs or penn pinpoints these rods range from $70-110 so save a little longer and you could get a much better rod

nah!!

if it was me mate i would definatley save up for a bit longer and get even a berkley dropshot that will last u a life time compared to that rod!!! u can sometimes get one for around 80-90 bucks so thats just one option. but u can even get a silstar evograph for 70 bucks u need to put a bit more thinking into it before u buy it.
Goodluck

cheers mitch

As per what the others have said, if you haven't bought it yet, don't buy it. You really do get what you pay for. A cheap rod may look the same as a high end one, well, after all, a rod is a piece os stick made up of graphite, so why pay so much for a piece of stick when you can get it for $30. Thats what I used to think too, until I actually got one of those expensive pieces of sticks. I didn't believe it when I first used it, how much more I could feel with that stick that i didn't feel with the cheaper one in exactly the same stretch of water with exactly the same lures. My catch rate went up straightaway. After all, you can only hook what you can feel.
But if you've bought it, guess you don't have a choice then...
