Black Diamond Rods v Nitro Innovators
Guys,
Who has an opinion on which is generally the better rod or are they similar? There is a bit of price difference with the BDs being more expensive. Anyone have an opinion on this? Thanks very much, |

Before I go to far into it I will say I am a BD Pro Angler so what I say may seem biased (but it isnt).
Anyway. You are looking at 2 different scales of robs with the Nitros and BD's. The Nitro's are a good entry level rod but lack a little of the feel of the uper end rods. Things like BD's, some Strudwicks etc. When it comes to Bream rods you really do get what you pay for. The upper end rods have a better feel for bites, are more balanced and over all completed with better components. Like anything in fishing always get the best you can afford. Some info that might be helpful with it comes to people providing information is what are the models of the rods you are looking at in both the Nitro and the BD's. Are you looking for an all purpose or just a specific style of rod? ie plastics or hard bodies. THe more info you can give the better chance of getting good information. THat being said nothing compares to picking up a rod and having a play with it. |

Im biased
but was well and truly a fanatical fan of Black Diamonds before joining the BD stable. I do own a Nitro and think its great, but also own a heap of BDs and really cant find a use for my Nitro any more considering my newest 3-7kg BD stick will do what the Nitro was but a lot lighter to hold. And when biffing out a couple of hundred casts a day, it makes a difference. If you can afford it then IMO get the better priced stick, if not there are many rods now on the market that will easily do the job. I believe Black Diamond are also doing a selection of rods that will suit guys on smaller budgets but still have the quality craftmenship as per all BD rods - I think they are the clear-cuts, I know Eddystone uses these rods a fair amount in Tassie and catches some absolute brutes on them. You`ll probably find you`ll get a few responses from BD anglers and also the guys that use them, in WA they are quite popular. If you need to have a look at any, just pop a PM through and Im sure something can be arranged, be sure to have a feel of the Nitro before hand so you can compare them. cheers
