South Australian participation in events

Hey guys,
Just wondering as there is no inclusion of south australia into the b.r.e.a.m circut is it possible to drag the boat over from here and participate. Sorry if this sounds a little dumb but i'm not familiar with how the whole tournament thing works. Also if i drag a fishing mate with me (non boater). He'll have to fish with someone else, because who fishes with who is all drawn random? is that correct? anyhow would love to come over, when is the next event?

Hi Shauno,

As long as you are a member of ABT you can fish any of the bream tournaments. Hey, you could even drag the boat over to Perth and fish our tournies too and catch a real bream. LOL.

Your mate would fish with whoever he is drawn with, it could be you, just depends on the luck of the draw. In our last tournament I ended up fishing in my own boat with my partner JP. A few guys thought we paid Ira off, but as I said it all depends on the luck of the draw. No matter who either of you end up fishing with you will learn new stuff, meet some great people and hopefully have fun at the same time.
Have a look at www.bream.com.au for any of the Eastern States events. Afraid our WA events arent listed yet, not really sure why not though

Hope that helps

Mim

Question Shauno, South Oz Director

Mate the only reason there is no comp's in South Oz is because no-one there has taken the reign's and gone with it, (unless i am mistaken please correct me if i am wrong .
The Bream tournaments came about because our Eastern States Bass Bretheren wanted to start a national circuit just like in the U.S.A. . Unfortunately, Bass are not a country wide species and they had to find a species that could be caught using similar styles and techniques. Enter the humble Bream, it can be caught around the whole country and is not an easy fish to catch on a lure, requiring an angler to use all the skill and knowledge he or she my have and a worthy fish to base a tournament circuit on.
Ira, who is a passionate angler and who has followd the American Bass circuit since he was a little one went East and found out all about the tournament's. He is responsible for it's birth in W.A. and he is no-one special, he works, he has a wife and a big interest in fishing.
So Shauno how would you like to be responsible for bringing the Bream event's to S.A.?, all it would take I reckon are a few phone calls to the A.B.T. and a bit of your time and effort, bear in mind it is hard work and not easy.
I love the tournaments they are great fun and well worth the effort.
Geoff

Geoff I'm no one special?

Hahaha nah I know what you meant, it's cool. But I will say this, you do need certain qualities to run Tournaments. Just remember that I'm the editor of the number one selling fishing mag in WA and that has given me an avenue to promote the events.

You need to be in a position to be able to promote them or have a very good buisness plan.

Also don't expect to make any $$ out of them as it just doesn't happen.

Having said all that it is very rewarding work and if you love fishing like I do then you will get a real kick out of seeing 60 anglers invest hundreds of thousands of dollars and come along to fish in an event that you created......

It is true, it is a lot of hard work and I take nothing a way from you (Tinny S&%#), I must remember to blame you next time the Mrs carries on about my tackle expenditure

Hey Mim,
While I can't be sure about what arangement you and JP had with Ira, I can say for sure that Cole payed him quite handsomely to get drawn with me for day 2 of the perth comp, just ask him haha
Ira, you interested in a ride in my boat? It will need to wait until my electric is fixed, but the offer is there. I figure I'll be doing you a favour, seeing as how Canning River bream are like 6 times tougher than the Swan variety haha

Red face Duncan you hussy

What happend to your electric? I should get mine back today or tomorrow, ifit's gone East it might pay to track it's progress and make sure they get on to it right away. Mine sat in BLA in QLD for a few days until I chased it up. When i explained that i am a "tournament fisho"and am in a real hurry to get it back they pulled there fingers out.
As for the slut, you hussy .
