My bream spot
Just thought I would post a couple pics so you know the type of area I fish for bream. Its in the Pumicestone Passage which is 1K from my home. Theres a few sections with a lot of snags which hold good bream in season but unfortunately at the moment they are very small like the one in the pic. They lack nothing in agression though
In winter we get much better fish but at the moment theres a few GT's about which really go on bream gear being about the 4 kilo mark & the odd Mangrove Jack ( which is just an instant smash up. My Dad took the pics so theres a bit missing here & there but it will give an idea anyway. The snags shown are at low tide so you can see what a happy hideout it is for bream. Also the bream we get here are very pretty fish & very light in colour as you can see. Love to see some pics of other happy hunting grounds.

Hey Ravin, is that Pumicestone passage proper or one of the side creeks? I used to live in brisbane and when fishing up there quite a bit. Top part of the world.
I remember catching bass in Coochin (?) creek (and getting carried away by mozzies) just off the main north coast hwy when I was at school. That empties into Pumicestone from what I remember. Any good bream in there? James. |

I like that colour it goes well with my nail polish & lippy
Its a pretty hard spot to fish & you have to be IN there to do any good. All the fish are in excellent condition & are probably the best fighting bream I have come across myself. Take a look at the tail size on that little fish. They are in good nick & the current during the tide is around 4 knots. Kingpin I got hammered by a GT this morning smashed a Paleamon & took off & went round a navvy marker & a yachts anchor rope before I could move They aren't huge but at 4 kilos or so are a real challenge on bream tackle.Yeh Jimi thats the passage proper mate up the north end. Coochin Creek has some good fish too & the biggest mossies in existence The only thing that works is a double dose of RID & a fat cigar to gas em out.

No worries we'll get together for sure. They aint Lizards here mate they are " Caloundra Crocodiles". I got 4 over a meter not long before Xmas last year & plenty of 70 to 90 cm models. I helped a mate release a croc that would have weighed 8 kilos no problem at all. They are fun in knee deep water

Hey Ravin,
That area looks sensational compared to the stuff we get to fish in the maribyrnong river in melbourne. The authorities have mad eit a lovely place to walk along the banks though by clearing most of the trees and making a nice walking track. They have also cleared nearly every snag out of the river and lined the banks of the river with bluestone. At least a few mussels will grow on the rocks to give the bream something to eat and the crabs don't mind hiding in between the rock as well. Here's a pic of one of the banks. This is nearly as good as it gets.

It's not much different here. They bulldoze mangroves, dig canals and pack the rich in huge houses on tiny blocks. You should see Raby Bay at Cleveland, there's a bowling club on one of the canals and I've seen the water turn lime green due to the crap they spray on the grass.
Pumicestone is still ok because most people go straight past it on their way to Noosa or Fraser. |

Thats no good about losing the structure Blackwater
& Tambo I just hope people keep driving past to go to Noosa The faster the better. I went exploring today & found myself some eeerr interesting snags to fish on Monday. Extremely confident of getting hits & hookups there but as far as getting them to the net , well that is a different story I love a challenge
