Anyone used either of these reels for casting bream or bass lures? The Scorpion's been out for a while and is probably the more economical of the two. The new Pixie looks the goods for lighter lures... check it out here:
http://www.plat.co.jp/english/bass/daiwa/liberto.htm just wondering if anyone's actually used/played with/even seen one of these? cheers

That's what I'm wondering. I know the Chronarch can cast Bennet Merlins, Tilsan Bass and Mann's Stretch 5+ with 4lb Superbraid, and these reels are superior for casting light weights. Problem is you wouldn't get too much distance I doubt...

Shimano Scorpion
Hi,
I am also looking to buy a Shimano Scorpion, I have looked and played around with it in Compleat Angler, it is a very smooth and awesome reel. My only concern is that the Max Drag is only 3lb, and that the wiffle spool reduces the line capacity. Cheers DaiwaFreak |

The pixy is said to be suitable for freshwater only. Although i think you could use it for brackish water, although u'd need to clean it well after every session. The scorpion has had a massive following in america, and is said to have the casting performance of a reel thats twice its price.
