Boat Handyman?

Anyone know where I can find a handyman to fix my boat? I need some guy to bolt on the rod holders as well as cut a hole into the front of the casting platform (port side) so that the rod tip slides under it ... also wonder if this would wreck the warranty.

I think Midland Marine could be one. Any where else? Or even if someone wants to do it, I will pay.

Cheers Carol

Mitch Yellin is pretty handy with boats. He may not do work on small boats though...may still be worth a pm

Hey Carol, I said I would be delighted to help bolt any rod holders on for you as payment for all the trips you gave me but I wouldn't be too confident in cutting the whole, how big does it need to be and what shape as small circles are easy enough. have you looked at any other options as with the heavy live well and all it might just weaken it alittle bit if your after a decent hole. PM me if you want help with anything.

Thanks Ben, you know I can't take that offer , but thanks indeed. You have a very good point I think. Actually Durko's tub has the livewell built in the same spot but he has a bigger, better and strong hull, and also the livewell was built by the same company and he has just built himself a rod compartment, exactly as I mentioned except he is building the whole thing as a rod storage compartment with lids, vents, the works. I may have to talk to Durko and then give Midland Marine a call. I have seen this done before, but not close up, and recently saw Durko's very close up indeed , hey Tim! ... and that's what made gave me that idea. Yes Tim, Durko has been a very handy man indeed. So what else has he told you? This forum is getting a bit boring, why don't we spice it up a bit huh? Shall I just add on to the story Durks?

And thanks Dave for the suggestion, but nah, I can't do that.

Thanks guys.

I may well be able tohelp out Carol!

I am not yet familiar with your boat, but may be able to help out, seeing your on hols at the moment.

I have built a alloy boat myself once and am pretty handy with wood, having been a cabinet / furniture maker for about 10 years, so If I can assist - just ask!

Sorry I'm not up with all the in jokes & innuendo.

Not to worry - the offers there - I've cut & drilled a fair few holes in this latest boat of mine for rod holders etc etc - I don't think yours would be too tough to deal with!

I have no idea about any warranty issues tho...so best talk to whoever you bought the boat from in that respect IMHO!

You know the best "rod holders" are the pair of hands God graciously gave you on the end of your 2 arms, just as the best "fish finders" are the two 'forward looking sonars' God also gave you in the front of your forehead!!

Now that I've started. - please tell me you don't have teeth like the 10 commandements - all broken!

Or worse a Roman nose - yeah Roamin all over your face!

Keep takin the happy pills trouty, yup - keep takin the pills!

Cheers & good luck!

Carol there is a guy living in your block who offered to help with any of these things and he has the cred to go with the offer having previously built yachts for a living why don't you ask him ??

Cheers

Trouty, .... I think I will go buy a 2nd flusher in case the one I have now is faulty!

PS Nathanielle, there is a story behind this that you don't know about. Not asking him, paid him to do a job once, and didn't do a good job, Ben & I nearly drowned!

Thanks for that Hodgie! (I think?)

Lots of people who've never met me, or fished with me, seem to know ALL about me!

I guess you get that!

Cheers!
