Fremantle Boat Harbour

Has anyone been fishing in the harbour before. Are you allowed to and is there anything in there to catch. Was thinking of heading in there with some bream gear and seeing if there's anything interesting around. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Tim

Fishing boat harbour or the main shipping harbour? Wouldn't try my luck in the shipping harbour considering there is now a 30m exclusion zone from the wharfs and ships due to a security upgrade.

I've heard crazy first hand stories of mulloway, snapper and sharks from parts of the harbour only fishable by those who work for the port. I've fished under both wharfs before and caught skippy and all the usual suspects but never put much effort in, it would be a haven in those restricted areas though!

Edit - forgot to mention there used to be a pretty tame 30odd kg sambo in the harbour the Tafe kids used to feed..doubt it's still kicking about.

Anyway that's out so I'd stick to the FFBH, it's full of big skippy, herring, squid, black bream and tarwhine ..

Freo Fishing Boat harbour

We use to get good Tailor as well from the rock wall behing the cray processing sheds....there is some big water pipes going down over the rocks.

As mitch said bream (silver and blackies) squid (especially just out the front or off the Northern sea wall casting towards south mole)
Herring yellowtail grunter butterfish odd skippy and the ever popular blowie in plague numbers.

If you have a boat just out the front in the sand patches are nice King george whiting, flounder, and skippy.

Take two paks of plastics coz the blowies are bad

Cheers Stu,

All caught on Slider Sea Grubs in Pumpkin Shrimp...

With the FBH look around the older boats with heaps of crusties growing on their hulls....

There are some big blackies in the boat harbour, but boy are they spooky. You can walk alone the rock walls and sight cast to them, but good luck getting past the blowies

went and fished the harbour at the north mole this morning. bit of action around. there is some descent size fish swimming around the lower part of the rocks. wasn't sure but i swear i seen some big fat blackies but i thought that would of been a bit strange being in there. Had a few bust of the skippy are pretty good fun on bream gear. nearly as good are the tarwine in there as well. they all give a good fight. had a ball chucking softies around.
