Drop us an e-mail to sales@breammaster with the dollars you're looking at and we'll see what we can get you into.

The Shimano Stradic's have come down under $200 at Cambells, Think there $180. Very nice reel (although I am biased cos I own one). But dont forget you will want to get some nice quality line aswell for the new reel which will put you over your $200 price range.

The laguna is a reel that would serve you well, a good value for money reel IMO.
I've abused my laguna more than any of my spinning reels and it's still going so I'm impressed.

As for the cappie vs straddie well that is one of the debates when in comes to reels, some ppl love one and loathe the other, some ppl think they are both good but prefer one of them etc. etc. ad infinitum

Personally I think either would serve you well, I own a couple of both (I'm a tackle addict in need of a 12 step program) and I think they are good reels unlikely to dissapoint.
