new reel <$240

hey guys
its time for an upgrade and im looking at reels in the $350 range, il be getting it cheap through work so wont be paying that much. first i thought id go a stradic then i saw the t.d advantage that i can get fo 240. does anyone have any advice or recomendations for reels in this range. i think i will get the advantage but i thought its better to ask for peoples opinions before buying cause i dont really know much about reels in this range.
cheers
luke

Thumbs up

I agree with greg mate, check out the Daiwa Caldia Kix reels. I just brought a 2000 model and they are an awsome reel. Very light weight around 230gm. I got mine for $289 here in Perth. The drag is so smooth as is the reel. A great choice for your price range. You wont be unhappy with it i assure you!

So are you guys saying that the Kix is better than the TD advantage?I would be surprised if it was becasue doesnt the Kix contain plastic parts, while the TD doesnt?Correct me if I'm wrong.

Cheers,
nathan

I havent seen the TD's so i cant comment on them, i just gave him 1 option around the dollars he willing to spend. How old are these TD's i didnt see them when i got my new kix and that was only 6weeks or so ago!!

For that price you can pick up a Luvia 1500 or 2000. Heaps better reels and way lighter than the TD-A

Go the Luvia

cheers, Nathan

I've recently stepped up from a Capricorn 2000 to a Luvias 2500 and it is superb. Smoooth as... can really notice the difference between the two in terms of quality. Haven't used many other reels though.
Since getting the Luvias I've seen this review of the TD-Sol which looks so damn gorgeous! Not sure how they compare with the Luvias though as they cost slightly less, and apparently you get a spare spool with the Sol which the Luvias doesn't have.

Apart from the colour the SOL looks the same as the Caldi Kix to me. Quite similar.

Its very similar....The differences are that the the Sol has an extra bearing and a metal rotor....wheras the kix has a graphite rotor. The Sol as Dockfish mention also comes with a spare spool. Both of them have digigear and awesome drag and are mint little reels....far superior to the TD-A imo.

I guess all it comes down to is whether ya wanna spend the extra few $ for an extra bearing and spool, and also have a reel just that tad smoother. When alls been said it all boils down to personal preference and how much ya willing to spend really. Any way your gonna get a great reel for the price you had in mind. Let us all know how ya go dude!

Just like the Twin Power is the Domestic equivalent to the Sustain, the Kix is the Japan-Domestic TD-Sol...

The real difference that should aim you towards the KIX is the Real Four gearing (just like the Certate) which isn't present in the SOL. That makes the big difference!

Yes it is......BOTH have digi gear.
Like I said in my earlier post the only differences between the 2 are colour and that the SOL has an extra bearing and a Metal rotor (graphite rotor on KIX).......
