Shimano Twinpower 1000

G'day All,

Just a quick note to tell you all about a great little reel I just picked up, a Shimano Twinpower 1000. What a nice reel. Has the same body shape, size and many of the design feaatures of the Stella. Same compact body, the direct drive thread in machined handle. The main difference's I can see are the lack of the machine drilled spool, and 5 less ball bearings. The reel is quite smooth and the tolerances are tight. I have a few Stella 1000's both the FA and FB models. This reel is right up there with them. And at half the price. I was told that the Twinpower line has been added by Shimano AU. If anyone is in the market for a new 1000 size Bream reel I would not hesitate to buy this one. Thanks to Bassifier and Marlin DC for their help as they both own older models and answered some questions I had.

Dan,

No spare spool with this one. They want like $80.00US for one I checked.......The Stella 1000FB spool is the same inside so I use that in a pinch as I have 1 spare....Since i switched over to fireline( Thanks to all Au Breamers for that ) I have not had to use a spare spool on any of my reels.

I've got one (twinpower 1000)...landed a 3.5kg may be 4kg jewie with it on 4lb fireline and 10lb Siglon.

However, I now very much in love with my Daiwa Certate 2000 - one of the best reels I've used. I love it so much that I bought 2 of them.

My opinion...no comparison.

Hi all,

was looking at the shimano catalog and found that the twinpower which is gonna be in the aussie lineup will indeed have a spare spool. And to make the deal even better, it seems that they have 1 more bearing added. How good it is I have no idea but I have seen the twinpower which Brian has and it looks the goods and feels solid to crank. Now brian time to move a level down from stellas to TP. LOL then u can buy twice as many reels

regards
DArryl

TwinPower...

The TwinPower RRP is around the $550 mark.. they are an awesome reel IMO.

But as mentioned there is a new model coming out in about the next few months so look for price reductions on the existing model...

I believe the Aussie line up is the newest model with spare spool and also has some holes drilled into the bottom of the spool skirt to cut down on weight and enhance the cosmetics of the reel.
Anyone know how much they are selling for as I have a mate that is looking at getting one.
