The big debate...Shimano VS Daiwa

i'm having a bit of a debate atm with josh, the fanatic about daiwa VS shimano reels.
In my eyes dawia is a far superior value for money based reel, strong drags, quality bail arms and good crbb bearings.
but you have to spend over 250 bucks to get this from dawia.

shimano on the other hand, has very week drags, but are generally very smooth. also give a 10 year warranty.....but whos gunna return a reel in 10 years time neway??? its just a trick

A regular in the shop brought in a stella the other day wanting line put on it (we don;t sell that puss in aussie ) i picked it up, first thing i noticed was it was extremely heavy, but was nice and smooth reel. too bad dawia offers better with a certate, much more superiour reel, for under the stella's retail!

i'm a daiwa man through and through, What reel does everybody else use??

cheers greg

I used to use Sh!tmano Sustains . But as they are not as well aligned as Daiwa IMO I am switching back to the Daiwa Certates . I reckon they are every bit as good as a Stella, but far cheaper. The alignment is so perfect and there is absolutely no slop in the reel. So for me DAIWA.

I don't think you can compare these 2 as the Stella is twice the price of the Luvias. Grab a Certate and then compare it to the Stella.

I'm aware of this, and in Breaming_seasons first unedited post he did make this direct comparision.

both brands a good but if i had to chose it would have to be shimano, they just have so many more advantages compaired to daiwa for example daiwa only has a 1 year warrenty and shimano has a 10 year warrenty that proves to u that diawa arnt confident in their product like shimano is

Go Daiwa!

The Certates so much more better than the Luvia for smoothness. Its so tight and well made.

All the AFC guys used Sh?tmano reels because there sponsored by the company Ryan.

cheers, Nathan

exactly, like how adam royter ,for example, always uses loomis dropshots but in the last series was using nitros because of the sponsorship deal.
