New bag limits for Bream

New bag limits were anounced in Albany by Minister John Ford.
As of 01/01/06 the bag limit for Black Bream will be 8 fish. Down from 20.
Other fish that may be of interest are: Mulloway, 2, KGW 12
Good news for our scaly friends
Ron.

That will count for nothing if the commercial limits are not enforced either. Less for the recreational will mean more for the commercial sector and end result for the fish is still the same.

I would support a plan (like they have in the US) where certain species are classified sportsfish or recreational species only.

Another thing is prosecution. At the moment, if illegal fishing practices are caught in the act they will be charged. But they get away with it, the fish mongers can sell them freely. I've seen so many small bream (under 23cm) in fish markets that I think if the fish shops get charged too, they will not stock undersized fish, and if no one buys them, they won't catch them.
