Thanks heaps

I have had fantastic response on bait at night over a couple of decades.

Ive only ever caught bream by accident on lures at night under artificial light.

Im a bigger fan of colour or contrast so to speak

Thanks again.

I fish under lights so colour of lure means nothing. And I only have 2 or 3 colours of hardbody so if i catch one it was on one of 3 that have nothing in common.
I was going through my files to try and find different lures in fishes mouths but I kept running over the same ground. Here are a couple that have worked when the sun had well and truley gone down.

Lawrence,

What do you mean when you say colour of lure means nothing since you fish under the lights?

Having three hardbodies with nothing in common's quite a good idea, you know there's no overlap then and you can learn some more...

As far as my experience goes, I've never caught bream at night, however, I HAVE caught long-finned pike and yellowtail in Tassie in pitch darkness using small paddle tails. Interesting thing was, instead of pulling it through the water to get the 'vibrations' going, I was twitching it ever so slowly, sending out a very subtle pulse and not moving the lure very far in the process. I think this allowed them to track the lure a lot better than ripping it through the water would have.

What I'm trying to say is basing what a fish can see and feel compared to what humans can see and feel is is misguided.

Even if rods and cones in the eye ball were the only difference we'd be in trouble.

add that to the 6th sense - "the lateral line" things get way beyond shades of green or pink

I havent fished for bream on soft plastics for a while now. I fish alot at night and all its taught me is colour doesnt mean jack. The bream feeding at night (or during the day) have never seen fish of the same colour or shape as the hardbodies I throw. But they still eat them.

Some nights, this lure works and some night that lure works - it has absolutely nothing with matching the colour of what they are feeding on.

What ever works during the day works just aswell during the permanent twilight around South Bank. As long as you fish it well, what ever colour you feel comfortable with will work.

Some people attribute their success only to the lure they are using (I've been guilty in the past) when all that has happened is, your skills, accuracy, knowledge, confidence and choice of fishing spots improve over time. And then you keep using that lure

If bait fishing has taught me anything, its that some presentations work all the time. But you always have to search for that killer presentation. With bait your choices (within reason) are finite. With lures there is always something else to try. The same "reason" I adhere to with baits gets thrown out the window on lures. Next time I see a flouro pink fish swim by will be the first.

There's every chance you have already found the perfect lure but got rid of it coz something shinier came out

But dont get me started on "Berkley Gulps"

Dont worry - colour means heaps to "me" during the day - I just wonder how much difference it makes to the fish.
