Luvias & certate maintance

G'day all,

Do anyone know how to pull the reel apart. I was trying to service my luvias(also certate) last weekend but have no idea how to pull the reel apart. Do you guys send it back to Daiwa Australia or local tackle store for service.

Regards

YipD

I've never pulled a Luvias apart, I send them to Daiwa.

As for the Certate, don't try to pull it apart! They need to be pressurized when put back together (according to Daiwa), even Daiwa struggle to service them and send them back in worse condition they when they were sent in.

If that was the case, then how do you keep the certates in optimum condition after, say, a year of constant use?

Apparently Daiwa Australia will be getting the machinery needed to service Certates when they get more popular here, it's a load of BD I know and I wish I was told it when I bought mine.

If you're worried about getting one service after a year, think about how I feel after owning one for 4 months and having it spen over 2 months back getting fixed (3 times). That's the reason I won't send any of my other Certates in for a "service".

That I never knew about the certates. Everyone I know who's used the certates had nothing but praises for them and I'm actually thinking of getting one instead of the Luvias or the twinpowers.

Don't get me wrong mate, the Certate is by far the nicest reel I've used, and I've tried them all. One of my mates who's a diehard Stella fanatic tried my Certates a few weeks back and bought 5 of the things the next day.
The only reason that one of my Certates went back to Daiwa in the first place was because I dropped it in the water.

That the kin'da BS you get from them.
"Pressurized"???
In the first place, the Certate has a open concept main body, turn the reel around and you'll notice a slot on the bottom before the end cap. Water can actually go in and out of the reel through the slot if you dunk it in water.
Still wondering why they build it that way.
It's not like the Saltiga where the main body is completely sealed.

I'll have a look at my Certates later. Daiwa told me that they're almost waterproof and shoild survive mist dunkings (but not the 30 minutes that mine spent under water), unlike the Saltiga which is apparently a very simple design and concept.

Try this out swoffa.
Remove the end cap which is hold down by a screw on the end of the reel.
You'll know what I mean by open concept.

Don't get me wrong, I luv the Certate.
I got 4 for myself and it's one hell of a reel.
I think those guys from Daiwa are thinking from their SEALED brains.

The guys at Daiwa Australia are useless, I've known that for a while. They have no concept of customer service and most of the time they don't even know about what products they can get.

I actually bought a couple of my Certate 1500's locally so I'd get the added service that is associated with paying so much more then if I imported them, what a joke that was. That was the last time I'll buy a Daiwa from Australia.

Ive been hearing some worrying stuff about the daiwa tment gear of late. Reels failing (HD satiga jig reels) and even a saltiga rod totally stuffed and them not honouring the warranty when the shop sent it in. For the price I expect better, I have around 10 daiwa reels and they have to back up their product better.

I the gear is good, I've never had any problems with the Tournament gear, the problem is with Daiwa Australia and their so-called "customer service".

So if I were to invest a whole heap of money into a Certate, after a year of use and careful washing down after every session, where do I bring it to get it serviced confidently ie. lubed etc..?

If they sell the tment gear and cant service it due to lack of proper equipment that is simply disgraceful. Sorry swoffa I think youre being kind to them!!! Why pay for their premo quality if when it does play up or needs service (even Porsche and Benz's need service) then no one can do it properly. I have 4 luvias and 1 saltiga reel and wont be buyin any more until I hear better than this. I look after my gear and it seldom needs serious work but if it does I expect that they can deliver otherwise Ill find alternatives.

They'll have the equipment needed to service the Certate very soon, so I'm told.

As I said already, they can service the Luvias and Saltiga here.
