So what are u ?? A right hand crank or a leftie??

hi folks,

just wanted to see what people feel with the hand they use to crank their spinning reels. So people other there use their right hand to reel which some others use their left. So what are u??

Personally i crank with my left hand. I find it so much easier and i feel that i have better control over my reel. It makes it easier since after casting i don;t have to change my hand before starting to crank. There have been instances where the bream has hit while on the drop so its a whole lot faster and more convient with the handle on the left.

So what are u a rightie or a leftie ?? Take ur pick

regards
DArryl

I cast with preferred arm and retrieve with non-preferred (cast right retrieve left). I find its best to have your strongest arm on the rod at all times especially during a fight - helps casting as well as you dont need to change hands fort the retrieve.

cheers

Rod stays in the right. Left is for bail lifting/reel cranking/and butt scratching.

I am right handed with everything except for fishing cause my grandad taught me how to fish and he is left handed. I cast from my right shoulder and use my left hand on the reel. Recently i was told that this is the correct right handed way to fish even though most right handers use right hand to wind.
Similar to above comments, you dont have to swap around after casting to wind with the other hand, it all stays where it is after casting.

i always used to wind with the right,in the baitfishing days but when i got into breraming i started windingwith my left,i was finding it very di9fficult to change,so i took the reel off the rod and would just walk round the house practising,i soon picked it up and havent looked back.

I'm right handed
reel with my left for lures
reel with my right for bait or left depending on the species

Im a leftie but i cast with the right hand, swap to my left then crank the reel with my right.

I also throw a dart with my right hand, kick a footy with my right foot and use a cricket bat right handed. Then i throw a ball with my left though...

Kind of confused but it works for me

oh yeah...whats the go with kicking.
I kick right footed, but I'm left handed.

I play guitar the normal way, all my cricket is left handed, but i can play tennis both left and right.

Interesting thing...since i started working out, my right arm is now bigger than my left. Yet my left is by far more dominant and stronger....lol

weird.
