I was also looking for a simple yet effective way to avoid spending $90 on a dive float.

Job done.

Find catering sized pasta sauce bottle on the side of the road - jet spray the mould out of it with garden hose - tie 6 meters of Venetian cord to it (not shown)

Hacksaw off a bit of metal from a metal clothes horse - bash it with a hammer so its flat in the middle - drill a hole and run an 80lb trace through it - add some 80lb mono to cater for all the fish I spear - cut tip on angle to make shoving it through fish easier - attach to float with a aluminum caribeena.

Grab a kitchen knife - shove it into a pvc pipe - heat weld a plastic bottle top to the bottom (drill hole in lid for drainage) - attach with a clip made from a clothes hanger and Roberts your mothers brother.

And most importantly - pretend to have forgotten to add a catch bag so your mate has to swim around with all the heavy stuff like Abs and Crays in his bag

Unfortunately the Commode isnt mine - its probably why you liked it
