There used to be an old lady who lived in one of the houses that backed onto the anglers tavern bridge

She would come out and give us dirty looks and berate us for fishing the bridge at every opportunity

It was like a horror movie

You’d get an uneasy feeling - Look over your shoulder - and there she was - just materialised out of thin air - standing in her back yard like a ghoul.

She had enough hate in her heart and time on her hands, to shut down ramps in other states let alone the nong.

If she’s still alive and catches wind of it. You may aswell just give it up now

Those 2 ministers pulling out at last minute is not a great omen.

Yes, I know the exact house she haunted....

Some of the ridiculous comments being made about the ramp are so misinformed. Comments about traffic congestion being an issue.
They don't realise that this ramp will be lucky to have and midweek users most of the year and most likely only the odd one even in summer.
Weekends I would expect no more than 5 boats any given day. So talk of traffic issues is so far off the mark.

Someone also spouted some crap about diesel and petrol spilling into the river from boats....

It pisses me off because they're off the mark.
I'd love nothing more than for the vocal minority to lose this battle.

Yeah I imagine the non boating locals were expecting their sleepy little river to turn into scenes out of “Water World”

The ramp was always going to be a tough sell

Some of the BS the locals were fearmongering the local social media pages was very frustrating.Such as
  • "Jet Skis don't belong in the river" (jet skis are and will remain banned in the Nong).
  • The is already a ramp up the river in Essendon (wrong, there's no ramps in the river at all)
  • This ramp will be used as a closer access point to the bay, boaters consider the river just another highway" (who on earth wants to add 2 hours communting by boat to a fishing trip?)
  • "The river is not suitable for boats" (WTF?)

There was so much BS being repeated around this ramp it's not funny.

The local rowing clubs are dead against having to share the water with boaters, they're a bunch of entitled flogs.
