around September last year (just before work turned into 12-15 hour days for 3 months 6 months) i filleted glassed the fuel tank sole.

cut and dry fitted the motor well more so i can see how things are lining up so i can decide on where my fuel inlet & breather will go and what size spin out ports in need... and true to form i have redesigned where things are going since then...

I also cut out the rear deck extension that will house my livewell and extra storage and worked out my ply requirements for the decks

about a month later... yes, long time between sessions... there has been some progress... some

Spent some time sanding and sanding... and gluing in the supports for the fuel tank.

finally got around to gluing in the sole. I decided to cut the sole so i can install the fuel tank later... another design change...lol

about a week later..

gave the sole a quick sand the now finally able to have Dad come around to lend a hand (stupid lockdowns).

So we got to working out and prepping the casting deck steps and rod locker.
We have a great plan going forward as we dry fit everything as we cut them out.

we'll continue to work through this stage and make any modifications where necessary before finishing off the fuel tank and bilge areas then start gluing and glassing in the deck extensions and storage compartments.

This section is for the breather tube as i have a side console i needed to do something a bit different... it will also act as a fuel tank area ventilation and plumbed to a vent.

its amazing how throwing a few bits of 9mm ply into the boat can make such a difference.

My wife had the realisation that standing on the casting deck seems a long way up... lol

so then that was October... and i didn't touch the boat again until the start of Feb and then it was only short lived.

Two main reasons were work got in the way along with my ongoing back problems.

I was moved onto a massive construction project, long days (12 -15 hour days), 6 days a week... and its almost finished... well until they release the next stage of works........
I took yesterday "off" got a bunch of projects done in the shed (custom laser engraver cabinet with smoke/fume extraction), picked up a heap of hardwood for a side gig i am trying to get going (yup i started a bit of a woodworking business and just got my first bulk order!!!), and actually got into the boat!!

filleted and glassed in the fuel tank supports and doublers for the ladder and shallow water anchor. also sealed the underside of the sole that will be going over the fuel tank... nothing too exciting but finally good to be back in the boat!!

On a side note... i have done stupid amounts of overtime on this project so i've been able to purchase things that were on the back burner... including the Haswing electric motor kit and lithium battery.

I also came to the realisation that i'd probably never use my kayak again (it aggravates my back issues) so i sold it... that paid for just under half of my electric motor!!

then i didn't touch the boat, other than moving it out of the shed so i could get other projects made, until this weekend... yup another 2 months of it sitting there taunting me!!

i finished off the last of my current orders and have dedicated this loooong weekend to hitting the boat as much as i can.
So Dad & I got stuck in.

yesterday we glued up a few bits and pieces, cut out bulkhead to make larger compartments.

We are trying to get enough done to be able to finish the fuel tank area so i can install the fuel tank and glue the rest of the sole down... then get side tracked on other little jobs and not get that much done.

we now have storage compartments between bulkheads 1 & 2...

cut out bulkhead 5 for larger compartments, glued in the bilge area to start creating the motor well (it makes sense in my head i promise)

and made the ski pole support tube and glued it in!!

the plan for today was to fillet & glass everything that was glued in yesterday, make the mounts for the bilge pumps and get them glued in, cut the bung & two livewell holes in the transom... so hopefully i get that all squared away cos i really want to be in a position to get painting soon.

We pretty much got that achieved...

well, for everything down the stern end anyways (didn't work on the compartments between bulkhead 1 & 2 that will be under the front casting deck

well today was a long day...

started off cleaning up all the glue dags (its been a while) and prepping for fillet & glassing.

drilled out the bung hole, and the two holes for the livewell inlet and overflow... that was quite daunting...lol

Worked out how and where the bilge pumps and livewell pump will go... well it took a while and a lot of configuration changes but we got there.

laminated a bunch of ply to form the mounts for the bilge & livewell pumps.

Finally filleted and dad followed and glassed behind me, then once i finished filleting i jumped on the glassing as well... will have to go back over the ski pole mount with a few more layers of glass before i'm happy with it (the mount has about 5 wraps around it, and another securing it to the bulkhead currently)

no real need for photos, its not that interesting..lol

after all this was done and cleaned up I managed to oil & wax a chopping board i made for a friend.

Nice one Ice - Love the Video update - gives a real sense of the scale of the project you have undertaken.

Id be keen to seen some time lapse of the painting if you can be stuffed when the time comes - the transformation from those coats of paint is worth recording
