So far my tinkering has shaved 16 mins off full ignition

The latest development was shortening the cage and piling heat beads on top. This was to stop the flames jetting out the top and basically being wasted

And I still haven’t used the leaf blower yet

(Full disclosure - the chimney was lit on a 14 degrees day, with more wind than the chilly nights in previous tests)

Leaf blower is a game changer.

I've got a Pizza oven. What is usually a 2 to 3 hour heat up getting a wood fire lit and up to Pizza temperatures I can do in about 30min with a leaf blower.

Yeah I’m holding off using it, until I can tweak the other little things, that might give me a small advantage.

I am familiar with the power of heat guns and leaf blowers. I just wanted to iron out any small kinks before letting the blowers work their magic

I imagine my final attempt will incorporate the cage, the blower and a heat gun

I reckon they're just the thing for giving the campfire a kick in the guts.

It would be safe to say the leaf blower is an important factor in getting beads lit quick

A stockwhip soaked in petrol is another campfire favourite.

I have to congratulate you on finding a way to make stock whips even more dangerous 👍
