Line roller bearing Sol 3 2000

Hi everyone, I'm looking at replacing my line roller bearings in my 2 sol 3 2000 reels.

Where can I buy such a bearing ? Have looked at Plaig but they seem to only sell a kit ?
Do I really need Mag seal in the bearing?
What is the advantage of Ceramic ?
Regards Howard.

Gee thats an old photo . 2002 !

Daiwa

Wow, how to make a simple line roller a really complex system, WTF a magsealed washer (key# 43).

The schematic shows two roller bearings in the train but doesn't list them as "magseal". The bearings are key#38 (Part# 6G686903)

I have always found the guys at Daiwa parts very helpful, so my first call would be to them, explain what you want and ask for suggestions, (02) 8644 8644.

If your current bearings have lasted 8 years, I doubt there is any benefit of going ceramic

Never replaced a magsealed line roller bearing but if there are 2 of them they are going to be small and fiddly to replace that is if Daiwa sell them; unsure. We have never had issues with them so i will keep my fingers crossed for you. From what i have seen you have simply caught to many of those huge Flathead on the light line you use which works the line roller pretty hard

Found this on Youtube which explains a lot. The bearings themselves are not magsealed but rather protected via a magnetic washer on either side of the bearings which supports the magnetic oil. The video explained that the noise he was having initially came from debris at the magnetic washer; the bearings themselves were good.

Boca

If Daiwa won't sell the parts you could go here:

The part numbers for the Sol III 3000 are the same as the 2000.

Pretty pricey though for a pair of hybrid bearings

If you can measure the bearing size, buying direct from Boca is an option.

Nice find on that video Sevric
