Light Braid In 2025

It's been a while since I've looked to replace line on my bream and bass gear, and all of my old favourites are either gone or hard to come by. So what braided lines is everyone using these days for bream and bass? What is good and what should I steer clear of?

For reference, I used to use Sunline Super PE religiously, dabbling in Varivas Max Power Seabass (16.7lb PE0.8) as well. I love the bright green for visibility but the market seems to have moved away from bright greens and oranges.

I'm looking for PE 0.6 and 0.8 in brighter colours, the greater the breaking strain the better!

I will take zero offence if you completely ignore this suggestion as when it is priced this low - even I would shy away from it but.......Kindom Micro Fly is extremely underpriced

This stuff came very highly recommended from quite a few guys on Ali Express pages.

Comes in green, pink and white

Very well behaved and you should get a year or 2 of heavy use out of it. Unfortunately they dont make it in heavy strains - 0.6 is the heaviest I think

But it is ridiculously well priced for a 150m spool and its very difficult to find anyone who has a bad word to say about it - very high customer rating with 1000's of spool sold.

If you hunt around you can find it for super cheap. So dont just click on the first ad you see or you'll be paying 5 times more.

As always - do you own sniffing around but I use this on all my light reels now

AliExpress is disrupting the market in all fields and it's showing with the majors pulling back it seems - I try to keep a toe dipped in the pool of information but it's cooling.

I've bought a few things lately lures, bearings and some odd sods because it seems the local market isn't there to support "buy local" - loads of high priced stuff in BeeCeeEfff that's not in my price range or stuff that's equal in quality but as Yellow mentioned overpriced.

I haven't bought new line in a long time, for my ridiculous stash of spools in which I bought from shops closing down and I look after my lines by regularly washing them off the spools (pull out onto grass and hose down and wind back on bottom to top every so often).

There's some good stuff mixed in with a lot of trashy products on these buyer platforms - you got to sift through it and find a good home based review.

Otherwise bring back the good ole days when line was good quality and respectfully priced.
