And here’s those vertical rod holders I built because I need to have my rods over the top of a waist high fence

The rest of my rod holders are angled flatter to the ground and weren’t going to work in this particular scenario

Yeah on this boat, the paint job Is probably 30 years old.

My mate got some advice from his boat mechanic, that sanding back and painting over the top would be fine

But the paint was in such bad condition that even with sanding the flakes off, it couldn’t withstand a blast with the pressure washer.

So after many hours of sanding(thankfully I wasn’t there for that&#128521we decided the paint foundation left, wasn’t strong enough to paint over

So it was off to super cheap for the septone (on sale at the moment) down from $70 to $50 approx for a 4 litre can

And off to Bunnings for the pressure washer ($60 for 24 hours hire)

Then the fun began

In hindsight, the job would have been so much easier, if we just committed to the pressure washer and paint stripper immediately.

But at least we won’t die wondering if sanding would have worked😉

So including paint brushes, the job cost about $120 in materials and many priceless hours of male bonding😉

My mate enjoys keeping busy and has an enthusiasm thats infectious for this sort of work. If I was trying to do it in my own, the boat would have kept its 30 year old paint job😉

Apart for a string of misinformation from vic road staff over the phone (different answers every time I called) - filling in the wrong forms coz they sent the wrong forms - And the bird behind the counter being a mole. Getting the old girl re registered went pretty smoothly

One positive was the staff who greetEd me at the door we’re champions

Ebays finest fake wood flooring has arrived

Adhesive backed, Foam seems to be what all the cool kids are doing instead of carpet these days.

Prepping the boat for a respray

Before you whack your mischievous 7 year old with a stick, for poking holes in garbage bags - make sure you've eliminated the local crows associating garbage bags with food
