Finally, a boat ramp to service the Maribyrnong River

This should excite those of us who like fishing the Nong but hate the 5 knot commute up the river from the Warmies Ramp.

This has been in early planning since some time in 2019 I believe and yet is still only an artists impression on paper, but we are assured it will be built this year.
Govt red tape always causes long lead times on these projects but lets hope we are able to use the ramp some time in 2021.

The ramp will open up the middle and upper reaches of the river that are currently difficult to fish due to long boat commute times. If my memory is correct it takes around 1 hr to get from Warmies Ramp to Avondale Heights, possibly longer so it is a big commitment when time is short.

I wonder how much extra boating traffic and fishing pressure this will place on the Nong? Hopefully the river can handle it.

I forsee huge clashes with the rowing fraternity and some minor scuffles with dog walkers and joggers.

I wonder how the community consultation has gone.

Looks like a couple of km upstream. On the northern tip of the golf course where the red foot bridge is - opposite pipemakers park, a few hundred metres upstream of the edge water lakes.

I know a map would have been easier but Breammaster is a prick to use on a mobile - my screen shots were too big to load

Just thought of another possible group of annoyed locals - The light sleepers - I know how sounds carries across open spaces. The early morning revving of engines may get a few up early.

I've got a freeway about 1km away and when a group of motorbikes start racing at 4am - the sounds travel along way. And that sound is supposed to be blocked by houses and freeway walls.

The residents on angler parade and tregrunter st might be in for a rude awakening

It will be interesting to see how smoothly this goes ahead

Yeah there is a select few who will benefit from a ramp in that area. I’m a bit puzzled by the proposal. Even if You were Chasing votes from fisherman but you knew the locals would shut it down. Why would you try to promise it in a residential area that had so little to gain from the ramp.

I know there is an angle somewhere - I just can’t work out what it is

There is going to be a vocal group of locals opposing this ramp unfortunately.

This is a good summary of what went down at the information event.

If you support this ramp or just don’t want the vocal minority dictating to govt and winning these battles because they have nothing better to complain about then please email the Moonee Valley Council and state your support for the ramp, without support I doubt it will proceed and the dog walkers will win.
