Hope you have to unhook lots of fish with them. There are quite a few different sizes and shapes and the more you have the more uses you seem to find for them. Surely you can chamfer the bottom ends BFL?

Yeah I coulda - and probably shoulda - but they dont seem to be an issue ......yet......

And they wouldnt be BFL originals with out some rough edges

But at the first sign of trouble Ill whip out the vice grips - whack on the belt sander - and get her done.

Yeah you can tell how my seasons going by the fact that Im looking for new techniques

I havent dusted off the livie gear yet - but its getting close.

If you need some inspiration to use the drop shot - those english underwater perch drop shot videos where they show the lure swimming should do it - the way a lure swims on the drop shot rig is a thing of beauty

So far all I’ve got are false alarms

Haha. Plenty of those about nowadays. Four or five years ago you wouldn't believe it if someone said they caught one.

Yeah who knows how they made a come back???

Maybe some of the OG Bream Gangsters release programs actually worked

I know theres official Government programs pumping out perch by the 1000's but I dont think they were stocking the Yarra or Nong when they started to bounce back

I've found a few that are larger than the official stocked fish have got to but there is an insane number from fisheries in there now

Ahh thanks for the update - Ill look into when they started releasing perch into the Yarra and Nong.

Ive heard 3rd hand tails of large numbers of perch relocated to the Patto by the "Perch Mafia" 25 years ago. They say fair few found their way into the upper Nong aswell.

Obviously I never heard names or know of any of this activity actually being really done or not. But legend has it, they were up to it 25 years ago

Earliest thing I could find was in 2012, when they released 7000 EP's into lake Bolac.

In the vid it seems like I may have misinterpreted the 133,000 fish that when into the nong in 2019 - but the only references to release sites I found were way up stream near sunbury

The theory doing the rounds is that the Nong fish made it to the Yarra system. It wouldn't be far for them to travel and sounds logical.

It was about 4-5 years ago when they first showed up I think.
We were mistaking the large schools showing on the sounders as baitfish. A few were caught on the big Jewie plastics and were then targeted to see if the baitfish were actually perch. Yep they were perch, huge schools of juveniles...it seemed to happen really quickly...maybe within one or two seasons.

So the 2018 stocking in the Nong looks to coincide with the large numbers of juveniles in the Yarra.
