What brand of Fluorocarbon leader is everyone using
About to stock up on Fluorocarbon leader so was wondering what every one is using these days. In the past we have been using Yamatoyo Harris fighter and have been happy with it's performance but there are so many different brands available the choice has become a little confusing these days. Need to stock up on 6,8 10 and 20LB used for a little bit of every thing but primarily Snapper, Flathead, Whiting and Jewfish.

Sunline
I use this for all my fishing now Dick, initially bought 10lb for my squid leaders and then used the 4lb in crystal clear NZ rivers.

Just remember if your main aim is for invisible line then you have wasted your money, switch to mono and save money

If you are getting properly reefed it wont matter what you use but the extra abrasion resistance is worth having - especially with lighter line Last edited by yellow door 1; 14-10-2018 at 11:06 PM. |

We started out using mono went to Fluorocarbon went back to try mono and back again to Fluorocarbon. I guess it depends on the water you are fishing at times our water here is simply so clear that any advantage you can give me i will take. With low light Snapper i do not think it matters that much but flicking lures around for Flathead in clear water a metre or so deep with the sun high in the sky i have gained a real confidence in the Fluorocarbon.
So we made the decision to stay with Fluorocarbon and sticking with it. generally purchasing it from OS but out of stock at the moment. https://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/...200m-10lb.html (US DOLLARS) Like a lot of others we tie longer leaders and use them all day unless we get well and truly bricked. Changing leaders in the middle of a fish is something we try and avoid. We will revisit Vanish and look at some of the Sunline products. Is there any feedback of the Sunline FC

I started using Shimano Ocea leader a while ago and now thats all I use. The 4lb breaks a little to easily but I'm happy with 6lb upwards.

A big thanks to all those who have replied. We will try a little bit of everything that has been recommended while at the same time we have sourced some of our regular Yamatoyo Harris Fighter in the big spools that we like. Comparison in the flesh, feeling and using is the only way for us to make balanced judgements i think.
So a big thanks to everyone for all the great feedback.
