Thanks fellas! It was my final assessment for tradeschool and the design of blueprints they gave me were pretty poor, so I drew my own, made it 100% different and twice the size and the teacher loved it and let me make it

Was doing a bit of Beach combing the other night and stumbled across these gems - but the blue and white fender will make a nice upgrade to the dive float.

Just have to come up with a way to attach the pvc pipe and flag so it stays upright and visible. Im thinking about a sleeve cut from one of these wetties, (I found on someones nature strip) - and a lead keel

Actually now I think about it, the pvc pipe is probably too heavy........leave it with me - I'll come up with some thing

Yeah - at a glance it doesnt look like much - but threading the line through that loop is a game changer and the knot makes it easy to take off when the spool is finished

Nice haul of junk there larry! That fender may be better, shame its heavier than that juice bottle but the wetsuit sleeve is a good idea! Hair tie is great too, like it!

Ps... Beach combing! Oh man!!! The excitement of searching a beach that doesn't see any foot traffic is hard to explain.

I've done similar by cutting up stubby holders into rings and poking a hole in it for the line but it's a bit more stuffing around and only works on a certain diameter of spool. Good for impromptu reel protection too

Yeah I was originally tying a knot in the elastic to make it fit the spool more snugly and thats when it hit me - its a 2 second job - and it works.

I've got a few stubbie holders lying around - you've given me the inspiration to start cutting - you could always cut the loop and glue it back together to make it custom fit any size spool. I know its a bit of extra stuffing around but it would work.

Anythings got to be quicker than hand sewing theses bad boys

But if you want a system to fit any spool - velcro will work. (velco obtained from an old sports bag from a junk pile)

Yeah I wasnt quite sure what I was going to do with them when I picked them up but I thought there are bound to be a few uses for neoprene.

I've already found a new home for one of them - My mates little kid was stoked. But the other 3 are destined to fall under the knife at some stage
