could probably just flair out the tip of the pvc with a heat gun and a beer bottle to stop the hooks catching so easily on the way back in - wouldnt be perfect but it would help a bit.

Edit - a beer bottle would be too thick for the sort of pipe you'd use - might I suggest a Sriracha mayonaise bottle instead

You are a never ending source of DIY ideas Larry, thankyou. Just think we have been battling with and dodging those sticky sharp hooks on the sabaki rigs for years. I get tired of unhooking one stuck in the carpet of the boat only to have another stick me in the knee cap. Now is the time to either get my creative juices flowing or simply purchase one and mount an old reel on it.

Yeah little inefficiencies out on the water drive me mad - people with higher tolerances for frustration might just let them slide but I cant handle it.

Thats the motivation behind alot of the dodgy diy I do.

Some things work and others dont - but if I make something that helps the day run a bit smoother - the time and effort are worth it - even if its only a slight benefit.

Was wondering how hard it would be to make a handle for a torch that gets hot - turns out its not that hard
Can either drill through and use a 1/4 inch bolt to screw into the hole provided on the torch. Or just duct tape of velcro it on

Went with the hose clamp in the end - It allows you to orientate the torch for single handed button access

Guys have been getting some big reddies on jig spinners recently so I thought Id give them a crack.

Obviously Im not going to pay "TT" prices for them - so I bent up some wire and gave them a swim.

No huge ones yet but I lost it to a snag a couple of casts after this one

But the beauty of diy is - if you lose the prototype - it only takes 10 mins to make 3 more when you get home

I made up a few last night and it renewed my hatred of working with tiny split rings
So I made up these rings.
Too weak for attaching a hook to but plenty strong for the spinning blades
