shimano tournament t-curve and raider series rods
looking to anglers who have used either of these rods and would like to know how these sticks handle. interested in hearing about the "RAIDER Spin Finesse Bream" and the "Tournament TCurve Spin". have read that some people don't believe that these rods are soft enough or that they're too soft.

Raider's feel to stiff for finesse plastics IMO. Haven't seen a T curve yet though.

I've got both 6'6 and 7' T-curve the new model.
They are good rods but I find that if u are looking for the 6'6 rod, the overall balance is too heavy at the rod tip. I mean when u flick your lure on the water, u will feel tired easily and quick! dont mention to fight for a hand size bream. My outfit as follow: Daiwa Certate 2000, 4lb pink fireline, 6'6 t-curve and 7' t-curve. Lure: 1/32 Oz. with ecogear 3" SP I used that for a 35cm bream last week @ Lakes Entrance Nic river, when u play your fish, all weight focus on the front part of the rod and makes your hand hard to control the rod enough. Another test for the 7' rod with the same outfit, got a mullet on the same SP but it's a 43cm mullet, this 7' rod feels better as it got a longer length that spread the "heavy" feel evently. The new t-curve got a shot rod butt, which LOOKS nice. only looks nice but not nice for the rod balance at all. I compared this 7' rod with my previous Daiwa heartland IM6, the IM6 feels even better playing the fish cos the overall balance is far much better than the T-curve. Furthermore, the T-curve cost not cheap either. I got it in Jx Marine for $270 whilst my old haertland IM6 cost only $130. For collection purpose, this rod is the toy to go but not for real fishing. Anyone get the same feeling with me or you want to share your opinion, please. I want to know how you think about this rod also, AS I AM GOING TO SELL MY 6'6". |

hey mate
yeh ive got a rack raider 6'8" with a okuma avenger20 with to spools 1 with 5 kg main line and 3 kg leader i use this 1 mainly for bream and mullet. my other 1 i have fireline and leader which i think are both 7 kg, i use these for flathead bass tailor and the like. the road can chuk a lite lure so far but the rod is only ment for small minnow and small spinnerbaits. it struggles with heavey spinnerbaits and heavey jig heads for plastics hope this helps overal i luv my rod to death, when you go into a tackleshop dont grab a rod that is a reallyi good one and doesnt feel rite to handle, pick omne that your comfortable with but is still in the descent range cya

I have a T-curve XL 7' and have used a rack raider finesse 7'6". Both are excellent for lightly weighted presentations and just yesterday I landed several decent squire on the XL. I have taken three rods to the tournaments and only ever used this one. Most of the bream I have caught on the rod are 30+ fork and it's handled them well. For the price (I paid a lot less than 270) the feel and quality is unbelievable. I will be buying more T-curve's until I can justify a stable of high end rods. My 2c. Cheers

Woo.... Gees..........
How come Jx marixe selling that rod for $270? btw, I tried my 7' t-curve today again with certate 2000 4lb fireline, used it for a few rainboes in Rowville, it feels much better than the 6'6 really. I used heartland-Z midge special but I know it cant be comapred with this rod but overall this price worth the quality. So as last post, what is the average pcx for this rod? Cheers |

I bought the 6'6'' t curve and I think it is ok but the 7' is probably the better rod, I paid $150 for the t curve at the tinnie and tackle show after some light hearted haggling.
I believe the t curve is better as a hb rod than a sp rod and I think it has a good stiffness for that, but then different anglers like different things. I was given the 7'2'' raider and didn't rate it originally but it has really grown on me. I see it as a good flathead rod and a decent bream rod. Just about every tackle shop I have been to in the last year has had both rods in stock so go have a play with them would be my recommendation. |
