6ft or 7ft
Is their any difference between 6ft rods and 7ft rods besides the casting distance

Its really a lot of personel preference. Balance feel and everthing else.
I think in theory longer rods will impart more movement onto a lure for the same amount of movement in the hand. A shorter rod is a bit more manouverable for casting into awkward places. Like casting with the tip down to get under jetties and such. there are probably as many different opinions about rod length as there is different rod actions. The best bet is to try out as many as you can and get what YOU feel comfortable with.

I have been wanting to try out a 7ft to see the difference from my 6,6 stella and im guesing you would feel more of the touches and the fight from a longer rod?

I'm 5 foot 7 and some of the casts I use would be almost impossible with a 7ft rod. There are only certain area's that require this cast so depending on the terrrain you plan to fish, a 7 footer may be too long.
The area I'm referring to is under some docks hard up against a wall with a low roof. You cant swing your rod above your head or to the side without banging the roof, pylons or the back wall. So your cast has to be made by inverting the rod so the butt is pointing to the roof. You then have to do a sharp flick with a back swing that takes place in front of your body. If you had a 7 footer in this environment you could still use the bow and arrow cast, which are deadly in their accuracy but take 3 times as long to set up and cast. Also moving around under docks with a 7 footer is a pain in the arse. I've done it with an 8 foot 6 but its very frustrating. My under the docks rod is 5 foot 6 long |

it comes down to personal preferance. I like the longer type rods and thus have got a 7ft and a 6ft6. I guess a shorter rod would benefit you if you were fishing tight structure.
